Yoga Balls & Downward Dog

  • The Yoga Room 218 Water Street Shelburne, NS, B0T 1W0 Canada (map)

BKS Iyengar asserts that this asana stretches the shoulders, legs, spine and whole body; builds strength throughout the body, particularly the arms, legs, and feet; relieves fatigue and rejuvenates the body; improves the immune system, digestion and blood flow to the sinuses, and calms the mind and lifts the spirits.

But it sucks if you don’t know the ins and outs of the pose. Often called a resting posture, it can seem anything but.

During this clinic we will breakdown the asana and prepare the body with passive stretches and the use of Yoga Therapy Balls. Self massage / Myofacial Release Techniques / Rolling is a great way to target stiff muscles, start to release facia, and create space in the body.

We will methodically stretch, massage, and discuss variations as we continuously revisit downward dog to observe differences and changes. This will give you the tools and understanding to adjust and play with your Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog) in your personal home practice or at a studio.

All therapy balls will be provided and will be sanitised prior to use. If you wish to provide your own therapy balls, just let me know and I will forward information on sizes.
