Yoga Immersion and Teacher Training

IMG_0592.jpeg

Here at earthMonkey Yoga we believe that yoga studies and teacher training should be accessible to whomever is committed to the path of yoga. It should also not be restricted to those who reside in a specific income bracket or who have time on their hands to dedicate to intensive or sequential weekend training. And while we, too, have bills to pay and mouths to feed, those wanting to redirect their lives through yoga teacher training should not have to choose one over the other. We’ve created this program with that in mind.

Over the course of our time together, we will study and discuss the yamas and niyamas, applying what we glean and learn to our day to day lives and how we interact with our family, friends, and community. This new awareness will be our jumping off point for the study of the remaining eight limbs of yoga (which include asana, meditation, pranayama), as well as ayurveda, anatomy, and any other items that bubble up. As this program is geared to be “one on one”, questions, essays, and in person discussions/teachings will be specific to you and your journey and earthMonkey Yoga will be your guide.

Where students numbers permit, we will occasionally meet as a group for sounding boards, input, and practice teaching.

At the end of your training you will receive a certificate and be comfortable planning and leading classes and short workshops.

Areas of study include, but are not limited to:

  • yoga sutras

  • basic philosophy & history

  • chanting

  • chakras

  • meditation

  • pranayama / breathwork

  • asana & movement styles (vinyasa, yin, hatha, restorative, gentle, etc.)

  • trauma awareness

  • modifications for focus students/groups (pre-natal, low mobility, etc.)

  • functional anantomy

  • verbal cues & hands-on adjustments

  • basic Sanskrit to assist with pronunciation

Exit requirements, for students wishing to teach

  • 90 minute practicum with a minimum of 3 students

  • three 60 minute sequences - hardcopy - in a focus of your choice

  • one essay on 3 yamas/niyamas of your choice and how they influence your life and practice

  • a completed “practice journal”. This will remain your property and I will not read it in depth. I will just flip through it to ensure it has been worked on.
