Making Yoga Accessible: Cues, Assists, & Adjustments for Yoga Teachers
A 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training provides us with a solid introduction to the vast world of yoga — just enough to begin offering general movement classes. But it also reveals how much we don’t yet know.
Many graduates walk away from their training feeling overwhelmed or even afraid to teach — and that’s completely valid. Two hundred hours is simply not enough time to master all the layers of teaching yoga with confidence, clarity, and inclusivity.
One area often under-emphasized in these trainings is assists, adjustments, and cueing — especially when it comes to bodies that fall outside the narrow lens of what society often considers “typical” in yoga spaces.
That’s where these clinics come in.
In these sessions, we’ll break down specific postures and explore:
Modifications for a range of body types and abilities
Verbal assists and cues that are clear, inclusive, and empowering
Hands-on assists and adjustments taught with a lens of consent and trauma awareness
We’ll also discuss best practices for offering support in both one-on-one and group class settings.
The goal: to help you teach in a way that feels confident, compassionate, and deeply informed — for every body in the room.
